Title: Mixed Media Mosaics: from trash to treasure with Emily Bhargava

Come explore a wide array of materials for mosaic!  Play with traditional and non-traditional tesserae, learn what works with which adhesive and substrate, and what will work for indoors and outdoors.  It’s a short session, but each person will leave with new knowledge, an 8×8 ungrouted panel, and grout to add at home.  All levels welcome.

Title: Glass cutting techniques with Emily Bhargava

A skill-building session for mosaic artists who want to feel more comfortable with stained glass, this session will start from the basics of glass cutting and move into techniques for cutting curves and refining your shapes.  Leave the session more confident in your cutting and knowing at least four different ways to cut glass.  (You will not leave with a finished piece of art), All levels welcome.

Title: Outdoor substrates and adhesives for mosaic with Emily Bhargava

Have you wanted to create outdoor projects but don’t know exactly how to begin?  In this workshop you’ll learn what substrates, what adhesives and what tesserae work for outdoor applications in the tough New England climate.  How can you tell if a tile is frost-proof?  How do you mix and apply thinset?  Each person will make a 6×6 frost-proof mosaic to take home.  All levels welcome.

Title: Collage under glass: the intersection of mosaic and paper craft with Emily Bhargava

While most glass used for mosaic is colored, clear glass is also an amazing mosaic material, and it allows images to show through.  Join us to create a collage, alcohol ink image or a drawing that you’ll set under glass as part of a mosaic.  Each participant will complete a 6×6 or 8×8 mosaic and leave with grout to complete the project at home.  All levels welcome.
